Bailey, Paul

Since he was a child, Paul Bailey has been fascinated by the varied wild, remote, and areas of Britain, be it moorland, mountain or coastal low-land. Inspired by this deep passion for the British landscape, Bailey fuses his memories, helped by sketches and photos, with vivid colors and dynamic brushstrokes, to produce sometimes ethereal interpretations of the diverse, subtle, and dramatic scenery within these great isles.

Almost completely self-taught, the artist learned through books, by visiting galleries and by viewing work by other artists. He enjoys a wide variety of art genres, from Turner to Rothko.

In Bailey’s own approach to his art, he looks for the abstract forms in nature, breaking the complex down to more basic elements.
